EM gauge, by Andrew Browne. At our 70th anniversary exhibition on 17 and 18 October.

Janes' Creek is based on the area around Janes' Creek at Strood, by Rochester in Kent, as it was around 1920. It is true to scale in width but about two-thirds of scale length, squeezed to fit Andrew's space and the transport he has.
The seven baseboards are built from 2in by 1in timber and 12mm ply, and sit on a timber subframe resting on four trestles. The track comes from the EM Gauge Society, partly ballasted with fine paving sand to look like the Dungeness shingle used on the real line. Cobalt slow-action motors and levers work the points, and a Gaugemaster controller runs the trains.
The buildings are mounting board covered in Scalescenes brick and corrugated iron, printed onto card, with lead foil for the lead valleys and back gutters. The sailing barges are largely scratch-built, starting from Vintage Miniature Models resin hulls, Sarik Hobbies vacuum-formed hulls and the Artitec Dutch barge. Modelu 3D-printed figures, guttering and point rodding finish the scene.
